According to a recent study, by the American Council on Exercise, stated that yoga researchers found that the regular practice of Hatha yoga significantly improved the subjects' flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, and balance. In addition, WebMD suggests yoga for weight loss, to improve heart rate and help back issues. Finally, Dr. Timothy McCall in his book, Yoga as Medicine: The Yogic Prescription for Health and Healing, states that yoga can reduce stress, increase flexibility, improve balance, promote strength, heighten cardiovascular conditioning, lower blood pressure, reduce weight, strengthen bones, prevent injuries, lift mood, improve immune function... and that's only a partial list.
Yoga classes at the Agora Yoga Studio are geared for beginners to intermediates and all ages and fitness levels are welcome. For your convenience, mats, straps, blocks, towels, eye pillows with disposable covers and blankets are provided and a changing room is available for those coming from the office. Classes are held in our beautiful zen-like studio, at room temperature and bottled water is always available. Parking is convenient and complimentary!
Classes at Agora Yoga Studio are generally Hatha style, however, each class is tailored to meet the needs of the students. Focus is placed on the students' range of motion, flexibility and balance, as well as decreasing stress through breathing techniques. No prior experience is necessary.
There will be scheduled classes posted each month, however, feel free to request a class at other times. Yoga parties for special occasions such as weddings, conferences or reunions are also available. For Groups, please allow at least 48 hours.
